What is Teeth Whitening?

Whitening is an effective way of removing stains and discoloration from the teeth. Staining can happen for a variety of reasons, such as smoking, drinking coffee and tea and even taking certain medications. We offer KöR whitening in our office, which is a convenient at-home system that is custom made for you. The system uses custom-fit trays that keep a revolutionary whitening gel in place so that it doesn’t become diluted by your saliva.

Why is Teeth Whitening needed?

You might be looking for a way to brighten your smile for a big event, like a wedding, or just because you’re tired of the way that you look. You might be a smoker or just getting older and are noticing your teeth are beginning to look dull and yellow. Whitening can be a quick and effective confidence boost that you need to feel your best. What’s more, results are long-lasting and can be maintained at home to keep your smile looking great.

Who is a candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Whitening, even with the KöR system, is best for natural teeth. It will have little to no impact on restorations within the mouth, like crowns, veneers or bridge work. We can perform an exam to determine if whitening is right for you. Most patients who are interested and want whitening can safely have it done.

What happens during Teeth Whitening?

For our KöR whitening, we take impressions of your teeth. These are then used to create custom-fit trays that you’ll wear. The whitening gel available within the KöR system is refrigerated to help it work more effectively. You will be instructed on how often and when to wear your KöR whitening trays at home. The trays are unique in that they prevent the whitening gel from coming out as well as saliva from going in and diluting the whitening power of the gel. You can keep your KöR trays at home for future use with new whitening gel.
