Do Dental Implants Last Forever?

Many patients who visit our dental office in Vacaville, CA will inevitably ask how long dental implants will typically last.  In this article, Dr. Amani Takher discusses the typical duration for dental implants and discusses some of the benefits that they offer for patients!

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

Dental implants are built to last upwards of 25 years or even a lifetime. They are made of titanium, and are anchored to the bone rather than the tooth’s roots. Implants are comfortable and allow patients to speak, and eat normally like they would with natural teeth.

What Happens If I've Lost Too Much Bone in my Jaw?

Proper bone in the jaw must be present to give the required support for the implants. As part of our evaluation process we determine if the patient has enough bone present. If not, bone grafting can be done to provide the support that is needed.

How Do I Take Care of my Dental Implants?
Caring for dental implants is similar to caring for your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing daily, and visiting our office regularly helps to keep the implants looking and feeling great. If cared for properly dental implants can last you a lifetime.

What Are The Benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer a variety of benefits including:

  • Implants function like natural teeth and are a reliable choice for patients that want a beautiful smile.
  • Implants are permanent, and do not need to be removed or cleaned like with dentures or bridges.
  • Implants are anchored to the bone and made of titanium. This makes them extremely strong and stable.
